Job Description
- The Banquet Server is The Departments Direct Link to the Customer.
- Their Primary Function Is to provide excellent service to the Customer. They are Responsible for the Setup, Service, and Breakdown of all meal functions, receptions, and other related events.
- Servers are Required to be on time to each shift and in full Uniform.
- Servers are Required to follow the direction of their direct captains and management and be able to perform all ask assigned.
- Each event is different, so servers are required to work well with change and be able to handle each event accordingly.
- Servers are responsible for handling all equipment properly and safely.
- Servers are responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of all China, glassware, silverware, linens as well as equipment such as: Ice machine, coffee machine, concessions, service rooms, and service fridges and areas.
- Servers are responsible for maintaining a professional appearance, a positive attitude, required service skill, and a level of commitment to excellence that will ensure that the customer has a great experience here at Wilmington Convention Center.
Job Requirements
- After each course each team will be responsible for cleaning their station or table.
- Teams should always serve salads, entrees, and then desserts. Bread and Dressing should be Preset (unless otherwise stated)
- The Manager/ Captain is responsible for assigning each team to a station and or tables.
- Between two servers, the decision is made on who will run and who will serve.
- One course should be completely cleared before moving on to the next course.
- Never serve hot items to an empty seat (unless stated)
- Never leave empty trays propped against the wall or on the floor. Set only one tray per tray stand.
- Learn where things are located if you do not know ASK! Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Every facility has its own way of doing things.
- Arrive at work 5-10 min early so that you are Ready to work at your scheduled time. Remember Things Change guest might want to start early.
- If you are more than 15 min late it will be DOCUMENTED (without notice) if you are Late more than three time you will be written up.
- Be a team Player if you see someone in need of a hand lend a hand. We want the guests to have a wonderful experience because they are the ones who provide us with work.
- Make sure your stations and areas are always cleaned and restocked.
- Maintain a professional attitude. DO NOT go into the dining area chewing gum, singing, laughing, yelling. Do not stand in groups talking, no personal Phones allowed in Client areas. Use of personal phones is for break rooms and back of house areas. If you need to make a Phone call, ask to step outside.
- If you are not alert you may not be aware that a guest needs something. Stay at your assigned stations if you are working alone and need a person to man your stations ask. make sure you have a person watching your station before walking away.
- Keep your Table Clean, keep your drinks Filled, look for someone to help, STAY ALERT.
- When guest is seated greet them, introduce yourself, and let them know who is serving them. Make them aware what the entrée is. This is their opportunity to let you know if they need something different. Pay attention to your guest. If they not eating the course that is in front of them see if there is a problem, don’t wait until it is the time to clear and then tell them they should have brought it to your attention. Eliminate the stress of a problem before it even becomes ones.

Pre meal assignments are designed so that all personnel have a specific responsibility in order to complete the correct setup.
